2011

Red Ribbon 5K Run/Walk

In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc. (FCDAC, Inc.) held its 6^th Annual Red Ribbon 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.  Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized event that serves as a symbol of drug prevention, where millions of our American population wears a red ribbon to show that our young people and our adults are united for a drug-free society.

Sticker Shock Campaign

For the fourth year in a row, the Fayette County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. worked with local youth and beer distributors in implementing "Project Sticker Shock," a public information campaign to enforce underage drinking laws.

Buffettman Beach Party

On April 2, 2011, area residents were entertained by Tom Watt, Pittsburgh’s premier "Jimmy Buffett Impersonator".  The event was held at the Uniontown Holiday Inn.

For the third year in a row, the Fayette County Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc. worked with local youth and beer distributors in implementing “Project Sticker Shock,” a public information campaign to enforce underage drinking laws.

Red Ribbon 5K Run/Walk

In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, Fayette County Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc. (FCDAC, Inc.) held its 5^th Annual Red Ribbon 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.  Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized event that serves as a symbol of drug prevention, where millions of our American population wears a red ribbon to show that our young people and our adults are united for a drug-free society.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day

September 9^th, 2010 marked the 11^th anniversary of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day.  FASD is an umbrella term that describes a range of disabilities that occur as a direct result of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.  At 9:09AM, the Fayette County Courthouse bells rang nine times to kick off a "Walk-Along" down Main St.  The event was held to remind everyone that kids with FASD’s will need someone to "walk along" with them for the rest of their life, because many will need assistance to go through life on their own.  A closing ceremony took place outside the Chamber of Commerce with a butterfly release to signify life’s new beginnings.

CONGRATULATIONS to Nick Jacobyansky, the 2009 winner of our annual Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest.  Nick's winning entry will be on posters this fall during Red Ribbon Week celebrations that will be distributed to all area schools.
