The goal of the Prevention
Unit is to reduce the amount of drug and alcohol use in our communities through
education and risk reduction activities.
We are committed to providing the most current information on Alcohol, tobacco,
and Other Drugs (ATOD), drug trends,
treatment and other related issues. Our educational and informational programs
are offered in the schools and community as classroom programs, small groups and
one-time presentations. All programs are designed to encourage and promote safe,
responsible decision-making skills, as well as drug and alcohol awareness.
Community:
For community based programs, the
Prevention Unit bases their presentations on group/event needs or focus. If your
company or organization would like to schedule the Prevention Unit for an
educational program, please contact us with the event date, time, location and number of
attendees expected.
School:
The Prevention Unit educates students by
utilizing evidence based curriculums. The term "evidence based" means
that the curriculum has been researched and proven to produce positive outcomes.
Two such curriculums used in Fayette County school districts are Too Good For
Drugs and Project Alert.
Too Good For Drugs
(K–8) is a
school-based prevention program designed to reduce risk factors and enhance
protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use
among students.
